Key Stage 2

Our Curriculum: Broad and Balanced

Our KS2 curriculum is carefully crafted to ensure a broad and balanced education. We follow the English curriculum guidelines while also enriching the learning experience with additional subjects and activities. Your child will continue to study English, Mathematics, science, and Computing, while also exploring History, Geography, Art, Music, PE, Religious Education, Swimming and French.

Challenging and Inspiring

KS2 is a time for your child to stretch their academic abilities and develop their critical thinking skills. Finding the right balance between challenging children and supporting them. We seek to find a point of curricular delivery for each child that is just beyond his or her comfort level. This will help them to develop resilience and perseverance, with a view to becoming intrinsically motivated. Accomplishing challenging tasks leads to greater self esteem. The other part of the equation is making sure that children are supported; that they know it is okay to make mistakes and learn from them. Our goal as educators should be to create a true safety net where children can strive and make mistakes, knowing that they are loved, that they are safe, and that they are treasured.

Transition to Secondary School

As your child nears the end of KS2, we support their transition to secondary school. We provide guidance and information to ensure a smooth transition, helping them to embark on the next exciting phase of their educational journey. A program of exam preparation begins in the third term of year four and is conducted three times a week. It ceases for Year 6 during the second term, once all exams have been conducted.

Mathematics, English, reasoning and interview skills are all covered during these sessions. The classes prepare the children to complete exams or test under strict time conditions and so they know the format and expectations of the range of exams they might have to do. Our past graduates have gone on to a range of schools both in Nigeria and abroad. These include: Atlantic Hall, BIS, CIS, St Andrew’s (Kenya), Greensprings, Meadow Hall, Lagoon, Whitesands, Loyola Jesuit College, Edgewood, Grange School, Lifeforte, IIS, Gordonstoun, Harrow and Benenden (UK).
